How can anyone keep a straight face while claiming belief in angels, demons etc. but denying fairies, sylphs.?

and other such entities? It isn't like there's any more evidence for them. What kind of mental gymnastics does it take to believe in such insanely outrageous concepts as 'Satan' but not in banshee's, valkyrja, vodun, wights or ogres? Aren't all the mythology based creatures without evidence for existence pretty much equal?
