What should I wear to my internship at NIH?

I'm going to start an internship at NIH this summer and while it's far off, I'd like to get some feedback early. I'm going to be working in a research lab so I will be doing experiments. That means close-toed shoes and a lab coat. What type of shoes and clothes should I wear? I don't know if tennis shoes and jeans would be appropriate...
