Do we have a choice in what we believe?

I think that people who live with the freedoms we have in this country have choice to a greater degree than those born in a country like Iraq or Iran. But even with all our freedoms people are born into ethnic or religious traditions of their families that have a huge influence over choice. Choice grows as we examine these beliefs we are handed in the light of other information from knowledgeable sources. Some will examine and some will not. Your point on choice is well taken. In one of my sociology cles we were challenged to step outside the expected in small ways like wearing all clothing inside out. I couldn't do it.
