Help on the sims 3 please?

My daughter has just grown into a young adult and i want her to move into another house. I've clicked on edit town and split up household. Now my daughter is on the clipboard and if i move her into a house i can't control her? If i move her onto another neighbourhood she doesn't know her family anymore and i don't want that. Any help?
