Why does the internal combustion engine run even when the wheels have stopped?

some are rocket scientists,some are mechanically inclined.i hope you know more about rockets than power transfer lmao.so your engine runs in gear with the tire locked up, and it isnt the clutch slipping huh?okay then how would that possibly happen?it doesnt, the engine will always stall,if the engine and manual trans combo is healthy.
